The RKM V5 stick PC

The RKM V5 stick PC

If you’re looking for the biggest Android stick PC you can possibly plug in to your TV, congratulations! Your search is over.

Rikomagic brought out the RKM V5 during this past holiday season. I have to confess that it slipped in under my radar.

The V5 got it’s name because it is the fifth version of Rikomagic’s stick PC’s that began back with the MK802. Like the MK902II, the RKM V5 is based on the newer RK3288 quad-core CPU, but somehow manages to shrink the case down to a smaller size.

When I say “smaller”, I mean smaller when compared to a Android TV box, like the MK902II. The RKM V5 is definitely not a device. This is one of the largest stick PC’s I’ve seen. But, that increase in…er…girth, does bring some benefits too.

Side views of the RKM V5 ports

On the back of the device there’s a full size USB port and a wired Gigabit Ethernet port. On the side, you’ve got another full size USB port and an SD card slot. Under the hood, it comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage, dual band WiFi and Bluetooth.

My initial impression is that the RKM V5 seems to be in the middle ground of Android devices. Its not big enough to keep up with the newer TV boxes, like the Tronsmart Draco, MINIX NEO X8-H Plus or even it’s bigger brother, the RKM MK902II.

But it’s also too big to be useful as a stick PC. The cool factor of the original MK802 was that you’ve got the Android OS on something the size of a flash drive. The RKM V5 is more along the lines of a small cellular phone.

You can pick up the RKM V5 from Geekbuying or Amazon for around $108.
