This means that you have very few limits when it comes to setting this box up and getting it working the way you want, whether you want to stream, watch your own downloaded content, or even game.

Since this is not a premium TV box, you do miss out on some premium features, such as voice command, smart home integrations, and the ability to unlock premium streaming services in 4K.

The QPLOVE is a pretty powerful device built on an Allwinner H616 Quad-Core. While this might not be one of the gold-star CPUs that you see in premium devices, it is a very good chipset. This is also the reason why the box is so affordable. It is the chipset and the storage where the majority of the price comes from.

The hardware setup has 4GB of RAM to work with, which is a step up from most affordable TV boxes that are generally limited to 2GB. While 2GB is enough for streaming apps from the Google Play Store, if you want to do other things, such as use Kodi or gaming, 2GB just isn’t enough space. With 4GB, you have a lot more options. For example, you can install these sophisticated Kodi builds.

The QPLOVE runs Android 10.0, which is no longer the latest operating system but still arguably the best OS for Android TV. Android 10.0 is more stable than Android 11.0, and many of the features of the new OS, while useful to phone users, won’t make much of a difference to the user experience on Android TV. Many Android TV boxes run even older versions dating back to 6.0 in order to maintain stability. So 10.0 is a definitive positive feature.

One of the things that make this box really stand out is that it comes with 128GB of ROM, which is generous by any standard. This makes the QPLOVE a great choice if you want to use the box to store content such as downloaded videos or games. More than that, you can also expand the storage with a TF card slot and USB 3.0 options. In this way, this box could be the core of your home media library.

Of course, the box also comes with the latest ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth options. It also comes with a decent remote control included, though you may want to upgrade.

With such great hardware, the QPLOVE is powerful enough to deliver not just 4K, but also 6K (if you can find the content) and 3D, assuming that your TV supports this as well.

However, bear in mind that just because the box is powerful enough to stream Netflix in 4K, doesn’t mean that you will be able to. This is true of most generic Android TV boxes because of the way that Netflix restricts access to their 4K content. You can read all about this here, but the result is that it is usually only TV boxes from big name brands that can get your Netflix in 4K. Generic boxes are typically excluded. But don’t forget: You also need a premium Netflix subscription to watch in 4K; otherwise, you are limited to HD.

Generic boxes also don’t tend to come with voice commands or smart home integrations. While you can try and get these working using a variety of programs, they just never work as well as they do when these features are native.

It gains points because you get an awful lot of power and space for less than $70. You get a decent chipset with 4GB of RAM. Cheaper boxes often come with only 2GB of RAM, which can be restrictive if you want to go beyond the app store.

You also get a very generous 128GB of ROM, as well as options for expanding your storage. This means that you have space to store your own media if you prefer to download rather than stream.

It loses points for the same reason that we deduct points from most generic TV boxes: It doesn’t come with the premium features that many streamers now expect.

It doesn’t come with voice control or smart home integrations — it is not compatible with Google Smart Home or Amazon Alexa.

It also won’t get you Netflix or Amazon Prime Video in full 4K. This is an administrative restriction rather than a technical limitation, and you generally need to buy a box from one of the big-name brands in order to be able to do this.

That is why this box is not for all streamers but is rather for next-level streamers who want to set up their own media centers suitable for Kodi, torrenting, gaming, and more.

You get the same RAM and ROM but a significantly more powerful Tegra chipset, which is ideal for gaming. You also get voice command and smart home integrations using either Alexa or Google. It is also authorized to give you all your premium streaming services in full 4K and can deliver Dolby Atmos sound, something else you don’t get with the QPLOVE.
