New Chromecast Apps Coming Soon

The Google Chromecast got a lot of attention when it was unveiled last month. The one complaint was that there were only a very limited number of apps that were available for it. Well, good news!! New Chromecast apps have been officially announced, or unofficially hinted at by a lot of major players. Here’s a quick look at what we know so far.

New Chromecast Apps Officially Announced

But, there are also hints at Chromecast support from other companies as well.

Rumored Support

  • HBO Go
  • Qello
  • Hulu  OFFICIAL!!!
  • Plex
  • Qello

All of this is great, but I still believe that there are many more services that can be made available. ESPN On Demand, NFL Sunday Ticket, SyFy, and individual apps from the major over-the-air TV stations spring to mind. More and more people are cutting their cable bill, so there is definitely high demand for individual content services.

Google said during the launch that “a handful of early developers are already working on enabling Google Cast technology in their apps, so more supported apps are coming soon.”

As more new Chromecast apps are announced, we’ll keep updating you. You can check out our Chromecast review or unboxing video while you wait.

UPDATE: As of October 2nd, 2013 Hulu Plus has officially signed on for a Chromecast app!
